Olivia Rodrigo released an additional part to her second album “GUTS.” “GUTS (spilled),” features five new songs that weren’t present on the original “GUTS” album.
Rodrigo first tested the waters of “GUTS” by releasing her single “Vampire” on June 30th. A few months later, in September, Rodrigo released the full album “GUTS.” Taking a transition from a heartbreak tone shown in her first album “Sour” to a more pop-rock tone. As “GUTS” was released, it immediately soared with fan feedback, hitting higher records than her debut album “Sour.”
“Sour” was more of a soft and slower breakup album while “GUTS” was more rock and revenge,” freshman Hurley Lucckese said.
In February, Rodrigo set out on her tour, “GUTS” World Tour. The next few months have her covering stages in North America and Europe, singing songs off her new album “GUTS” and her first album “Sour.”
“When she announced she was going on tour, I wanted to get tickets so bad, but they sold out so fast,” senior Maddie Wilson said.
Rodrigo surprised fans in Chicago when she announced “GUTS” deluxe. During her song “get him back!” Rodrigo and her dancers held up signs sharing the news. Fans were curious as Rodrigo was performing an unreleased song “Obsessed,” earlier at the concert, which is listed on “GUTS (spilled).”
“When she announced she was releasing a deluxe album I was very excited because one of the songs on it was “Obsessed” and I loved that song, so I was eager to see what the other songs looked like,” Lucckese said.
“GUTS (spilled)” debuts some of Rodrigo’s unreleased songs, “So American,” “Obsessed,” “Scared of My Guitar,” “Stranger,” and “Girl I’ve Always Been.” “Obsessed” rose up on the Billboard Top 100 charts by hitting its peak at spot 14.
“I loved every single song, but my favorite was “So American,” Lucckese said. “I was surprised by ‘Girl I’ve Always Been,’ because it gave a more country feel which wasn’t her typical music style.”
