“It Ends With Us” by Colleen Hoover is Hoover’s best selling book, topping the best sellers list in 2020. From the popular book, to now an even more popular movie, “It End With Us” has become number three in the 30 Most Popular Movies Right Now on Rotten Tomatoes.
After watching a review of “It Ends With Us” through a daily vlog on Youtube., I decided to give it a read. The novel is about a young woman, Lily Bloom. Throughout the book, it dives into Lily’s present life with her current partner Ryle, and flashbacks to one of her past relationships.
As I finished the novel, I waited with hopes for a movie. In May of 2024, the first trailer for the new movie was released. I eagerly watched it and knew I was going to fall in love with the movie. The trailer revealed a glance at Lily’s Story, portraying key moments from the book, making me even more excited to watch.
August 9th couldn’t come soon enough, and the next day I went and watched the long awaited movie. As I watched the movie, I felt like what I imagined in the book came to life. From the beginning scene of her meeting Ryle, I was hooked. Throughout the movie, I went through an emotional roller coaster. I laughed. I cried. I was mad. I felt all the feels.
Leaving the movie, I felt happy with the production. Even though the movie left out key details like the “better in Boston magnet,” or the “just keep swimming” phrase between Atlas and Lily, I still thought it was amazing.
The movie portrayed the characters very well. Lily was just as I had imagined with her bohemian-style clothing and how she dealt with domestic violence. Her partner Ryle wasn’t what I had thought. In the book, he played hard to get, and in the beginning of the movie, he was more loving to Lily and showed that he really wanted her.
This movie is one of the best-produced movies and tells a wonderful story. If you want to watch this amazing movie, check local showtimes.
