Last season, the volleyball team went 10-11 and made the regional playoffs. In the playoffs, they were defeated in three sets to Midlothian High School in the first round. The goal for this season was to build on last year’s record.
“My expectations were to win more games than we did last year and try to go farther into the playoffs,” junior Isabella Williams said.
In this season, the team went 10-10 and got a bid into the playoffs. The team went on a winning streak, winning eight of the first ten games of the season. In the final ten games, they won two.
“We started off really hot with a good winning streak, and we hit some hard teams,” senior Alyssa Hopkins said.
They traveled as the sixth seed to Matoaca on November 4. Earlier this season, they met at Matoaca High School and the Lady Lions came out with a win in three sets against Matoaca. This time around, they eventually lost in four sets.
“This was a great way to end my freshman year,” Painting said, “I am going to miss Alyssa and Jill, but I am looking forward to the rest of my high school career.”
