It’s award season for music and movies, and many nominated musicians and actors hope to step up to the stage to accept accolades for their work. Three of the important awards in the entertainment world include the music-related Grammys Awards, and the film-related Golden Globes and Oscars Awards.
“I watched [the awards] last year and it’s interesting to see who actually wins,” sophomore Melody Young said.
Grammys – The 67th annual awards ceremony will occur on February 2. The nominations include;
- Record of the Year – Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” Billie Eilish’s “BIRDS OF A FEATHER,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” The Beatles’ “Now And Then,” Charli xcx’s “360,” Beyoncé’s “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” Taylor Swift and Post Malone’s “Fortnight,” and “Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!”
- Song of the Year – Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die With A Smile,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!,” Billie Eilish’s “BIRDS OF A FEATHER,” Taylor Swift and Post Malone’s “Fortnight,” Beyoncé’s “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please”

Oscars – The 97th annual awards ceremony will occur on March 2. The nominations include;
- Best Picture – “The Brutalist,” “Conclave,” “Anora,” “A Complete Unknown,” “Emilia Pérez,” “Dune: Part Two,” “Wicked,” “I’m Still Here,” “The Substance,” and “Nickel Boys”
- Best Actor – Timothée Chalamet’s performance in “A Complete Unknown,” Sebastian Stan’s performance in “The Apprentice,” Adrien Brody’s performance in “The Brutalist,” and Ralph Fiennes’ performance in “Conclave
- Best Director – Sean Baker’s “Anora,” Coralie Fargeat’s “The Substance,” Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Pérez,” James Mangold’s “A Complete Unknown,” and Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist”
- Best Actress – Mikey Madison’s performance in “Anora,” Cynthia Erivo’s performance in “Wicked,” Fernanda Torres’ performance in “I’m Still Here,” Karla Sofía Gascón’s performance in “Emilia Pérez,” and Demi Moore’s performance in “The Substance”
Golden Globes – The 82nd annual awards ceremony occurred on January 5. The winners included;
- “The Brutalist” for Best Drama Film
- “Emilia Pérez” for Best Musical or Comedy Film and Best Non-English Language Film
- “Wicked” for the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement
- “Challengers” for the Best Original Film Score
- Sebastian Stan won Best Actor for Musical or Comedy for his performance in “A Different Man”
- Zoe Saldaña won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Emilia Pérez”
