The halftime show has been a staple event in the Super Bowl for over 30 years. Many singers like Micheal Jackson, Prince, U2, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, and last year’s artist Usher have performed at the halftime show.

This year, rapper and artist Kendrick Lamar has been chosen to perform during the halftime show for Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025.
“The halftime show is going to make history,” sophomore Holden Pekary said.
Though it is Lamar’s first time headlining the show, it will not be his first time performing at the Super Bowl. In 2022, Super Bowl LVI was co-hosted by rappers Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Lamar.
In his section of the Pepsi Halftime Show, Lamar performed his songs “M.A.A.D City,” from his album “good kid, m.A.A.d city,” and “Alright” from his album “To Pimp a Butterfly.” He also assisted in the performance of “Forget About D.R.E” with Eminem.
This year, people have begun to guess the songs that are going to be played. Songs like “Not Like Us” and “Duckworth”have been some of the most wanted songs from his catalog.

“I’m wanting to hear some of his stuff like “Loyalty,” “Pride,” and “A.D.H.D.,” junior Gracie Cauble said. “I want the show to be fun and I hope he brings out some of his big features like Future and Metro.”
Lamar performing the show has caused an atmosphere of excitement in his fans. This is leading to more speculation on potential features and elements of the show.
“I’m not really watching the Super Bowl for football, I’m only watching for Lamar,” junior Liam Seay said.

To add to the shock and excitement of Lamar being the main performer, he also announced that SZA will be joining him on the stage.
“Having SZA on the setlist will make the show so much better,” Seay said.
They have many hit songs together that could potentially be played together like “All the Stars” from the Black Panther Movie Soundtrack, “Luther” from Lamar’s new album “GNX,” and “30 for 30” from SZA’s “Lana.”
“I just know this year’s show is going to be amazing,” Seay said.
