One of the most exciting events of the spring semester is quickly approaching: Prom. This year’s dance will be held on April 26, 2025, at Bowood Barn starting at 7:00 PM.
The Junior Class Council, sponsored by Jennifer Estep, plans the dance. To ensure the dance is the best it can be, they secure the venue, DJ, and caterer; come up with the theme; and decide on decorations.
“The Junior Class Council is made up of students who sign up at the beginning of the year, and I find kids throughout the year that I invite to join,” Estep said. “They help generate the ideas and brainstorm. This year we let the seniors vote on the theme; sometimes we do that, sometimes we don’t.”
The dance is held at Bowood Barn, a local venue located off Tisdale Road in Louisa. The venue is a completely wooden barn with drapery and lights strung throughout, so the decorations needed are minimal. It also has room for a large dance floor and an outdoor area decorated with lights and photo ops.

“When we were in the gym at the old building, we spent three days covering the walls with paper, and all of our decorations were cardboard and paper decorations that we ordered,” Estep said. “They came in these big flat crates, and we had to put them together.”
The Junior Class Council will spend Friday setting up the dance. This includes hanging the decorations, setting up the tables, and ensuring that everything is ready for Saturday night.
“[Having the students plan the dance helps because] the teachers have a different style from the students, so as a student, it is easier to pick something out that you know everyone will like,” Junior Emma Pippin said.
Tickets for this year’s prom will be sold during lunch shifts this week and can be purchased for $25.
