On April 1st, 2025 the high school hosted a Resource Expo for elementary school students with disabilities. The goal of a Resource Expo is to help parents gather information from different sources on helping their children.
“The Resource Expos are for parents to have the ability to speak to multiple different agencies in one place,” said special education Sayward Labrador. “ It gives parents a one-stop shop for transitionally related organizations and saves them time and energy in trying to see they aren’t alone. Everyone’s needs are different, but having this opportunity to gather information from different types of sources in one place can take away a part of stress for parents.¨
Allowing the opportunity for parents to feel guided towards resources and opportunities for their children might come as a relief. Alongside the information, parents get to see that they are not alone and other people are looking for the same resources.
“This was amazing, not only does it feel like a whole new world to information I didn’t know, but I see there are so many other people in the community,” said Lee Dalton.
