The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office is holding its annual K-9 5K Run/Walk. All money raised goes to community programs and the K-9 unit. The race is hosted at Spring Creek on May 24, with the adults’ race starting at 8:30 AM and the children’s half-mile race starting at 9:30 AM. The race is open to runners of all levels, including their well-behaved dogs.

The course finishes on a downhill to allow for some feel-good finishes. After the races, the K-9 unit will demonstrate what the donations go towards. Registration for the 5K is only $35, and the kids’ half-mile run is only $20. Participants will need to pick up their race packet on either Friday, May 23, at the Sheriff’s office, or on race day after 7 AM; Friday pick-up is advised.
The race will feature awards held before the K-9 demonstration at 10 AM.

“It’s good to keep you and your pets healthy and have a fun time running a 5k,” sophomore Brayden Nemec said. “Raising awareness for the canine unit, and you and your dog going out doesn’t have to be a race, it could be like a jog.”
