The Louisa County Volleyball team prepares to head into the regular season, following a shutout 3-0 win in their first scrimmage. In their second scrimmage, they kept each set to five points or fewer while shuffling players to find a rotation that works the best.
“Our scrimmages felt a little chaotic, but I think it was a good learning experience for our team,” senior Isabella Williams said.

For the past two years, the team has finished 10-10 in the regular season, making regional playoffs both years. This year, the team aims to improve on the last two years and secure a winning record while making the regional playoffs once again.
“I think we definitely have a lot more chemistry this year,” Williams said, “I want us to stay consistent throughout the season to win more games.”
During the summer, some players on the team participated in travel volleyball teams to fine-tune their skills and prepare for the school season, with several of them playing on the Charlottesville Area Volleyball Club and Richmond Volleyball Club. On these travel teams, they get to travel the state and the East Coast for tournaments.
“I’m excited for the season, especially since it’s my last one,” senior Makayla Vest-Sims said. “I just want to enjoy it and make the most of it.”
While losing two seniors in the class of 2025, the team’s core is still mainly intact from last year. This year, the team has five seniors on the roster looking to leave a lasting impact on the program.
“I look up to Elliott Moreno because we play the same position,” freshman Maci Hensley said. “She has always been kind to me, giving me pointers when I mess up, and helping me not to overthink.”
