Sabrina Carpenter is set to release her newest album, “Man’s Best Friend,” later this month, on Aug 29. This album follows Carpenter’s Grammy-winning album, “Short n’ Sweet,” which was released last year.
Carpenter became one of the most listened to artists in 2024, and with her seventh album on the way, her popularity is expected to increase even more. Carpenter released the album’s lead single, “Manchild,” in early June 2025, and according to Spotify, the song has close to 300 million streams. Fans embraced the song, with hopes of an album to follow.
“I didn’t like ‘Manchild’ at first, but the more I listened to it, the more I liked it,” senior Aubrie Sherry said.

“Man’s Best Friend” was announced on June 11 via Carpenter’s Instagram. With many artists taking long gaps between musical projects, Carpenter’s back-to-back albums were a welcome surprise.
“I can’t wait for it to be yours,” Carpenter wrote when sharing the album on social media.
When Carpenter first revealed the music, the tracklist wasn’t released, and the only song fans knew about was “Manchild.” According to Variety, the 11 other songs featured were shared by fans of Carpenter. Starting on July 22, a photo of a fan, along with a song, was posted.
“I thought the fans announcing the tracklist was really cool,” senior Margaret “Maggie” Ferrell said. “I would text my sister every day when the song came out, and then when the last song was announced, I was excited that we had the whole tracklist.”
To promote “Man’s Best Friend,” Carpenter has performed multiple times this summer at festivals. According to Rolling Stone, “Manchild” was sung live for the first time the day after the song dropped at Primavera Sound. She has also performed a set at Hyde Park and Lollapalooza later in the summer.

“I really like her stage presence,” Sherry said. “Her performances are different from other artists, and she has a specific look, with her hair, outfits, and boots.”
Many wonder what the music will sound like on the upcoming album. According to Genius, “Manchild” had a country-inspired tone when compared to Carpenter’s pop-influenced songs, like “Espresso” and “Busy Woman.”
“Carpenter might take a different approach to this album, like with ‘Manchild.’” Ferrell said. “I think it’s going to align with the vibe that she’s always given off.”
