Fall officially starts on Sept. 22; however, temperatures have been dropping rapidly from the summer highs. The morning frosts have returned as the leaves descend from every tree. The smell of hot pumpkin spice lattes fill the air. Fall is creeping in, and it is starting to show.
“My favorite aspect of the fall season has to be the leaves falling and the sudden change of mood and scenery,” senior Amiyah Thomas said.

Styles have slowly been changing because of the temperature change. Short-sleeves have turned into sweatshirts, and shorts have turned into jeans and sweatpants. The colder weather, mostly occurring in the morning hours, causes some confusion for some as they don’t know how to put together an outfit to accommodate the weather.
“I am excited to wear my big hoodies and to bring pajamas back to school, just comfy clothes overall are coming back,” senior Lavartrell Creasy said.
Fall sports kick into action, which include football’s Friday night lights. The talk of college sports in action has taken over a great deal of conversations as well. Many also participate in fall sports which adds to the enthusiasm of the approachment of fall.
“Volleyball of course is my favorite sport and watching my team develop and compete brings me so much joy,” volleyball coach Cheri Hunter said. “I always look forward to attending sporting events. Attending my children’s sporting events is one of my greatest joys.”
In addition to the fall feels, food and drink companies have released their fall menus including Starbucks. Many of these fall items include pumpkin spice and apple cinnamon flavored drinks as well as foods that follow the same flavors.
“I love the Starbucks cold brew and I am excited to add pumpkin to my coffee,” Thomas said. “I have never understood the hype of pumpkin flavored things until now and I love it.”
Many different colors that take over the spring and summer vibrant colors. Some of the most prominent ones being red, orange, yellow, and brown. These colors are most associated with fall because they take over the leaves before the trees turn bare.
Orange represents the crunchy leaves that are stepped on, pumpkin patches, and many of the vegetables from fall harvests.
“Orange is my favorite fall color because it is warm and it balances well with other colors,” Creasy said.

Yellow represents the first color that overtakes green leaves, optimism of the colder weather, and the sun that peaks through the trees that warm up cold mornings.
“If I had to pick a favorite fall color it would be yellow. It represents happiness and hope, a few words that describe my overall demeanor,” Hunter said.
Brown represents the smell of hot morning coffee that fills the air, the wicks that burn in pumpkin spice candles, and the comfort of the warmth in a house during the colder months.
“Even though it seems that the leaves are dying, fall makes me come alive,” English teacher Darci Guess said.
