“Five Nights at Freddy’s,” a popular video game series that began in 2014, has a second movie installment in the works. In October of 2023, the series received the first movie adaptation, which quickly became accepted by the large fanbase. In April of 2024, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” was officially announced by Blumhouse Productions, the studio in charge of the movies.

The first movie was a wild success, grossing over 137 million domestic dollars and 291 million worldwide. The cast list included famous actors like Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard, which sparked excitement from both the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” community and horror movie fans.
“I really like the way they portrayed the animatronics,” sophomore Sam Morgner said. “I also liked how they portrayed William Afton’s storyline and made Mike a different character. It was just really interesting to see.”
The second movie is set to follow the order of the games, portraying the animatronics from the second game, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.” The animatronics include Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, Toy Chica, Mangle, The Puppet, and the withered animatronics.
“I cannot wait to see Mangle,” junior Ellen Chisholm said. “I really love Mangle’s design and I want to see their play on all the janky doodads and stuff.”
For movie producers, handling a long-standing, fan-ridden franchise comes with a lot of pressure. “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” a game which most players have enjoyed since middle to even elementary school, has an extensive plot filled with many characters. How the producers choose to portray these essential characters can change the ratings drastically.

“It’s interesting to see how the creator, Scott Cawthon, is putting these movies together,” junior Norah Riner said. “The way I see it, it’s almost like he is getting a chance to go back and refine the series. I worry though, because there seems to be some romantic side plot between Mike and Vanessa, and I don’t know what that would do to the story.”
“Five Nights at Freddy’s” fans are buckling in for another movie, and possibly more to come, since “Five Nights at Freddy’s” always comes back.
“I’m really excited to see Josh Hutcherson again,” Chisholm said. “I love him.”
