With the spooky season behind us and Thanksgiving approaching, many enjoy spending their free time watching fall-related movies and TV shows to get into the fall spirit.
“I typically just like to curl up with my cat,” art teacher Dani Perry said. “I have a black cat as well, so that kind of ties into the fall spirit. We’ll put on the TV, curl up with a blanket and some good comfort foods.”
Movies such as “Hocus Pocus”, “Halloween Town”, and “Beetlejuice” are family favorites to watch during this season. Others like to watch certain television shows such as “Stranger Things”, “Teen Wolf”, and autumn favorite, “Gilmore Girls”. These make them feel the cozy and comforting atmosphere of fall, so they can enjoy this season.
“I go to my mom’s house and watch movies with her, and sometimes we eat fall related things like apple cider donuts,” freshman Chloe Cooper said.

Movie franchises such as “Halloweentown” and “Twilight” take many down childhood memory lanes as they were, and still are fan favorites. Both have very different tones, but contribute to the season in similar ways since they follow fictional stories of characters you see during this season. “Teen Wolf”, on the other hand, is another example of a childhood favorite television show for Perry.
“Twilight is just a classic movie,” Perry said. “When it first came out, I watched it with my siblings, so there’s a little bit of nostalgia there. I also read the book, so it just hits home for me. Halloweentown, specifically Halloweentown High, me and my siblings watched, we had it on DVD. It was like one of the only Halloween movies we had on DVD, so I just remember watching it every single Halloween. I just love the depictions of all the different monsters and creatures. I actually am re-watching Teen Wolf right now. I was watching Teen Wolf as soon as it came out, when I was in high school. I love Dylan O’Brien and Tyler Posey; the storylines are really good.”
Director Tim Burton plays a significant role during this time of year. People of all ages from all over tend to enjoy his movies. Many like the stop-motion animation he uses as it adds an eerie vibe to his movies, so fans like to watch them during this time to get into the spirit. Movies such as “Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Corpse Bride” are some favorites.
“I love ‘Corpse Bride,’” Cooper said. “Tim Burton’s really good.”
This season is not complete without the mention of a significant character: witches. Witches are some of the most popular characters around this time. People will be dressed up as them for Halloween and many TV shows and movies have been made about them. “Hocus Pocus” for instance, is one of the most popular movies of this time.
“I love ‘Hocus Pocus’ because I love anything about witches,” Perry said. “I’m a really big history buff when it comes to the Salem witch trials, and everything like that. So, anything about witches, Bette Midler is also wonderful, she’s a

really good actress.”
Along with teachers, many students enjoy “Hocus Pocus” as well. It’s a traditional movie to watch during this time and is nostalgic for all ages.
“I really like all the witches and characters,” Freshman Galen Rose said.
