The 2025-2026 NFL regular season ended on Jan 4, 2026. This season has been deemed as one of the most exciting in recent memory by many NFL fans. Many games had exhilarating fourth quarter comebacks and multiple teams that were not predicted to do very well ended up having some of the best records in the league.

“I think it’s better since the Kansas City Chiefs are not as good this year, because there has more parity.” senior Jonathon Slegar said, “Every team feels competitive and every game I have watched has gotten my heart racing.”

Other teams have had noticeable issues on the offensive side, with unimaginative playcalling making them predictable to opposing defenses, yet still performed well overall throughout the season.

“I think the Eagles started off really strong. They had a really bad offensive coordinator, so we didn’t have very strong offensive playcalling.” senior Carly McDermott said, “Overall everything went well, we just weren’t as strong offensively as we’ve been the past few seasons and I hope we improve next year with a new coordinator.”

The NFL playoffs started on the weekend of Jan 11 with the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos having a “bye round” due to having the best record in their respective conferences. The wild card round of the playoffs was played on that weekend with the top teams from each conference competing against each other.

“Every game was electric,” Slegar said. “You’ve got Bryce Young almost beating Matthew Stafford. You have the Texans defense just absolutely stomping Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers. Every game was really interesting in a different way. I really love that you had offensive shootouts. You had defensive stands. You had everything that a football fan could ever want in the wild card round.”

The second round of the playoffs was also engaging with both games with very close scores and games where there was a large point differential. There were also some damaging injuries that ended up making the following round more compelling

“From the first snap, it felt like a really good team win,” Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold said after a 41-6 win over the San Francisco 49ers. “Our defense really stood their ground and having so much offensive control of the ball really helped us throughout the game and let us get into the red zone often.”

The other teams that won in the divisional round include the Denver Broncos, the New England Patriots, and the Los Angeles Rams. The Broncos starting Quarterback, Bo Nix, had been injured in the divisional round, and the team then faced the Patriots in the AFC Championship game with their backup quarterback, Jarrett Stidham. The Seahawks played the Rams in the NFC Championship game, both games occurred on Jan 25. Both games were close in score with the Patriots winning against the Broncos and the Seahawks winning against the Rams

“I think we moved the ball really well at certain points in the game,” Stidham said after losing to the Patriots 10-7. “It just didn’t work out on some important plays but that’s just football at the end of the day.”

As the Seahawks beat the Rams in a very close NFC championship game 31-27, the Patriots and Seahawks faced each other in the Super Bowl on Feb 8, in Santa Clara, California with the Seahawks winning 29-13.

“It’s been a long ride,” Patriots Quarterback Drake Maye said after the loss. “I love this team, I love everyone in our locker room. We played our best and we just came up short in the end. I wish I could just go back to the beginning and redo it.”
