Super Bowl LX was held this past Sunday, and football wasn’t the only thing being talked about. The Super Bowl halftime show was one of the most watched events in the world with Bad Bunny as the headliner.

“When it was announced that Bad Bunny was going to perform for the half-time show, I thought how lit it was going to be since he was already popular with his new album,” senior Wendy Espinoza said.

The Puerto Rican rapper Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, more famously known as Bad Bunny headlined Super Bowl LX  at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The headliner was announced on Sept. 28, 2025. He was the first Latin male artist to be a headliner for the show and performed the most viewed Super Bowl halftime show of all time with 135.4 million fans tuning in from all over the world. Fans were overjoyed when they saw he would be performing since it would be showcasing true Latin culture. Viewers were happy to see their favorite songs performed during the show.

“My favorite part of the show was when he brought out all of the flags at the end because it showed everybody was included,” senior Ariana Varga said. “I liked all of the songs he performed, but my favorite was ‘DeBí TiRAR MáS FOToS’.”

Before Super Bowl LX on Sunday, Feb. 1, he received three Grammy awards at the 2026 Grammy Awards. He received awards for the categories, “Album of the Year,” “Best Música Urbana Album” and “Best Global Music Performance” for his song “EoO.” All three awards were for his most recent and one of his highest streaming albums, “DeBí TiRAR MáS FOToS” with over 8 billion streams on Spotify alone.

“Bad Bunny has made Grammy’s history as the first Spanish-language artist to win album of the year with his hit album ‘DeBí TiRAR MáS FOToS’,” Jordan Moreau published on Variety

The entire show was centered on Puerto Rican culture, Latin music and the inclusion of Latin countries. The centerpiece of his setup was “La Casita” which symbolizes a small, traditional house found in Puerto Rico.

“I’m glad he performed,” Espinoza said. “I believe it was much needed during these times of separation.”

Many Latin celebrities were present on the porch of “La Casita” including Pedro Pascal, Young Miko, Karol G, Cardi B, and Jessica Alba. Special appearances from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin were big surprises to those who were watching the show.

“I didn’t expect Lady Gaga to be at the halftime show,” junior Juan Torres-Alonso said.

The halftime show itself shared a powerful message “The Only Thing More Powerful Than Hate is Love.” He depicted love with an actual wedding that took place on the stage. The couple was surrounded by people dancing and having fun. Viewers saw this and praised this significant message. Many celebrities online came to his support and shared what they thought about his performance.

“I really liked how he represented how love is more powerful than hate and how he wanted to unite everyone, especially in a time where people want to divide everyone,” Espinoza said.
