VHSL Class Change
After great success in the Virginia High School league (VHSL) 4C, Louisa has moved-on to the more competitive 5C.
“Honestly all competition is the same, it’s a matter of whether or not an athlete as an individual has the heart to win, and get better,” Head Wrestling Coach Roger Stewart said.
According to Fan Arch, schools are moved into different divisions due to variables like school size, record, and other factors. This means that Louisa has reached the VHSL boards requirements and was bumped up.
Schools in the Region include Franklin County, William Fleming, Matoaca, Prince George, Douglas S. Freeman, Hermitage, J.R. Tucker, Mills E. Godwin, Clover Hill, James River (Midlothian), Albemarle, and lastly Louisa.
“Our Region is definitely tough this year, but I think we are going to find success no matter where they put us,”Varsity football player and wrestler Luke Rowan said.
Louisa football has already gone 6-0 in the region.
“The new region will be something to look forward to, and with our leadership I know Louisa will dominate,” Wrestler Robert Church said.
