The summer before senior year can be filled with excitement, but also an endless list of things to do before senior year is over. One thing off of that list is taking senior photos.
Most soon-to-be-seniors will take their photos in the summer before senior year or the fall of senior year. These photos are some of the most important photos one could take, as it celebrates the growth throughout high school and the excitement to come.
With photos, there can be a lot to think about: the place to take them, outfits, who will take them, and so on. Here is a list of ways to help plan photos to make them the best they could be.
- Searching for a Venue:
When searching for a venue, most people try to find something that represents them. Some people will pick the beach while others will pick something more woodsy. Near Louisa, there are many venue spots to take photos. Some include,
“I chose to take my photos at the Ogg Farm because the landscape was gorgeous and exactly what I was looking for,” senior Raina LaBonte said. “The sun looked gorgeous during golden hour, the trees, cows, and fence line were the perfect backdrop for my senior photos.”
- Finding the right Photographer
Once there is a place established, it comes to finding a photographer. Around Louisa County there’s many talented photographers across the board. Each photographer offers a different style in their photos. Some offer a warmer and colorful style in the photo, while others may display a more neutral style with soft browns, greens, and tans.
Photographers around the area include,

- Searching for the right Outfits
After figuring out all of the logistics, here comes the fun of the photos. Finding outfits to wear can be a bit overwhelming, but can also be seen as the best part. Figuring out the color scheme of the outfits and then getting the outfits can be an extensive process. Having an idea before makes the outfit selection easier.
“When figuring out my outfits, I knew I wanted to have a flowy dress in one photo, then jeans and a white top in the others,” senior Haylee Snow said. “I chose the dress because I felt like the flow of the dress fit the field and farm background.”
Once all of these things come together, it just leaves time to take the photos. After the photos are taken, finally, one thing off the senior year to-do list can be crossed off.
