On April 3, the 2025-2026 MVP and Educator of The Year Awards were announced by school level to the community. Certified RN and LCHS School Nurse Mazie Rowe was recognized as MVP of the year.

The Team LCPS MVP awards are a weekly recognition program that was originally launched by Doug Straley to recognize students, staff, and community members that embody the division’s “non-negotiables”: accountability, consistency, grit, and positivity. Of these weekly nominees, one individual from each school, who continuously goes above and beyond, is recognized as the MVP of the year.
“My peers nominated me for the MVP Award for having the five Cs, all the good stuff that our county stands for, my grit, and just being a good team player,” Rowe said.
Rowe’s experience and impact on others in the school and community were directly recognized throughout the multiple nominations and round of voting by staff to be recognized as LCHS MVP of the year.

“It’s been a great experience working with somebody since the beginning of my career, and I’m sure it’s the same with her,” RN and Itinerant Nurse Christen Costello said . “We’re by ourselves in the nurse’s office, and this has been the first one of the first experiences that I’ve had with having a teammate to work with. I think we have a pretty good bond.”
As a registered RN, Rowe has cared for many both working in a hospital and as the school nurse. In her role, Rowe ensures that the student body is in proper health and that their medical needs are met.
“She helps me because I have type one diabetes, so she helps me get all the stuff I need for my insulin and everything,” sophomore Peyton “Lee” Rawlings said. “She’s very sweet to me, kind, and understanding. I think her receiving the MVP award is well deserved.”
