For the first time since 1994, the FIFA World Cup is going to be hosted by the United States of America. In collaboration with the United States, Mexico and Canada will also be hosting games. The opening game will be played on June 11, 2026 featuring Mexico vs. South Africa. Starting ticket prices can vary from around $100 dollars all the way to around $2.3 million dollars on resale sites.

“I wanted to go to a game, but the ticket prices were too expensive for the games I wanted to see the most,” said junior Holden Pekary. “I’m still looking forward to watching from home even though I can’t go.”
The World Cup is available to stream on many different platforms including Peacock, Telemundo, Youtube TV, and FOX One. Industry leaders have big claims for the viewership of the World Cup, expecting the final alone to pull more than 1.5 billion viewers across platforms.
“Soccer is growing in the U.S. so I am excited to have the World Cup here for that reason,” said Pekary.
