Junior Brayden Nemec has been running his whole life and continues to push himself and others on and off the track. Known for his athleticism and dedication to running, Nemec plans to keep his momentum for the upcoming season.
“I felt like I performed well, but I did not quite get the times I wanted last season,” Nemec said. “I am going to be making little changes this season in order to help me improve.”
Last season, Nemec ran a 4:42 mile during outdoor track, winning the race in his heat. Nemec also ran a 16:44 last season for the 5k, which was a significant personal record for him. This season, he plans on including more time in the gym, completing longer runs on the weekends, and keeping a good diet in order to improve. Nemec not only works hard to improve his own times, but also likes to motivate others.
“It’s nice having Brayden as a brother to look up to, especially because he is faster, which motivates me to be even better,” sophomore Bryson Nemec said. “I am not the most motivated person, but Brayden still gives me tips and encouragement.”
The two brothers have grown up running together for as long as they can remember, and continue to go on runs and train at the different tracks around Louisa. Looking up to his brother, Bryson has set himself to the same standards and is working towards some of the same goals as Brayden.

“It’s always been a goal of mine to run in college, and I think I inspired my brother Bryson to share that same goal.” Brayden Nemec said. “I’m grateful for my coaches and friends who support me in working towards my goal.”
Nemec has wanted to run in college since he was 12 years old and has worked towards that goal ever since. He plans on running in the state at the collegiate level and is determined to achieve a roster spot within the top three divisions in the NCAA. Nemec has had staff and other members within the program support him in working towards his goal over the years throughout high school.
“I have a great coach that supports the team and has helped me get better over the years,” Brayden Nemec said. “I like that he’s been coaching for so long; he really knows what he is doing.”
Coach Cutright has been coaching for over 40 years and has been with Nemec since he first joined the high school team in 9th grade. Nemec has seen major improvement in his times while under Cutright and is looking to keep improving this season.
“I met Brayden in 7th grade, and he’s always worked hard,” junior Noah St. Julien said. “He works really hard and has helped me to appreciate things.”

St. Julien has run with Nemec throughout high school and has watched him improve each year. They not only spend time on the track together, but also off the track. Running has contributed to personal friendships in Nemec’s life and has become a part of who he is.
“Running has been a huge part of my life; I have made so many friends and memories throughout my time running,” Brayden Nemec said.
