Nov. 1 marked the end of the 121st World Series. This series contained the reigning World Series champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers taking on the number one team in the American League Championship, the Toronto Blue Jays. The series was a tight one with both teams not getting more than a one game lead to one another with the Dodgers prevailing.
“It was a really exciting seven game series,” senior Amara Comfort said. “I have never seen a series quite like this one before.”
The series had everything like extra innings, big home runs, late-game heroics and big defensive plays. Game three even tied the longest World Series game with 18 innings. The series also featured stars that shined bright.
“When I heard that Will Smith made contact with the ball I knew the game was over,” junior Jonathan Anderson said.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers was named series MVP. He had a remarkable pitching performance including delivering in relief in Game 7 after having to start the day before. An unexpected surprise, Miguel Rojas hit a tying home run in the 9th inning of Game 7 to keep their hopes alive. And then, Will Smith hit the game-winning home run in the 11th inning of Game 7, which was the first extra inning home run to win a World Series.
“I thought Shohei Ohtani was going to take over the series because he can just do it all,” senior Jayden Thompson said. “but when you have a player come in and pitch in three of the games to keep them in it you have to go with Yamamoto.”
Though the Blue Jays had the better run total and arguably were the better team record-wise, the Dodgers were able to execute when it mattered most with their late relief and late home runs.
“This was probably my favorite World Series I’ve ever watched because of how entertaining it was,” Comfort said. “It had everything you would want.”
