Students in the National Art Honors Society visited a Louisa County nursing and rehabilitation center on Dec. 3. The students helped residents with creating Christmas and holiday themed crafts.
“It was fun and sweet to interact with them,” sophomore Sam Morganer said. “Just knowing that a lot of the time they don’t have people to come and talk to them, I am glad I could make a difference.”

As students made crafts with the residents, conversations flowed naturally. Many participants said the crafts helped make the afternoon feel meaningful for everyone.
“I enjoy making crafts and sharing them with other people.” sophomore Aibhlinn Donovan said.

By the time the visit had ended, the room felt brighter than when the students had arrived, with residents staying engaged long after the last craft was finished.
“The students were wonderful,” art teacher Dani Perry said. “It shows that the arts are important in Louisa in every aspect, from young to old.”
