After a big year of music, the Grammys return to acknowledge some of the best artists. The Grammys have been a way for many artists’ works and projects to shine.

“The Grammy Awards are our opportunity to honor the people who make this community so vibrant and this year’s nominees remind us of the incredible talent that is driving music forward,” Harvey Mason Jr., the CEO of the Recording Academy, said.
Months before the event, the list of nominees were unveiled. In categories such as “Best New Artist” and “Album of the Year”, many new and returning artists such as but not limited to: Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny, and Chappell Roan to name a few, have a chance to win a Grammy.
The category of “Best New Artist” was filled with rising artists who have a shot at winning the Grammy. From The Marias to Addison Rae, many new artists have a chance to win the award.
“I think that Addison Rae should win “Best New Artist,” junior Hurley Lucckese said. “I think that she has a lot of potential. She came from a different background than most singers do, and I think she has a lot of potential.”
Another category at the Grammys is “Record of the Year”. This section recognizes the sound and production of a song. According to the Recording Academy, some of the nominees are “DtMF” by Bad Bunny, “The Subway” by Chappell Roan, and “luther” by Kendrick Lamar with SZA.
“I think ‘The Subway’ by Chappell Roan [should win] because ‘Record of the Year’ is more like the sound of it and the production of it, rather than the songwriting,” Lucckese said. “I think that ‘The Subway’ should win because it has the best sound.”
The final category, “Album of the Year”, is one of the biggest. This award highlights the overall best albums of 2025, shining light on the talent and skills of the art and the artist. A few of the nominees listed by the Recording Academy include: CHROMAKOPIA by Tyler, the Creator, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS by Bad Bunny, and Man’s Best Friend by Sabrina Carpenter.
“[I think] Chromakopia [should win] because it’s just a really good rap album,” freshman Galen Rose said. “I appreciate how every other rapper got on half of that album. [My favorite song off of the album is] ‘Like Him’.”

Many people have found that some of their favorite albums were snubbed of a nomination. With so many albums released in the qualifying frame of time, not all albums would receive a nomination.
“I think the main album that was snubbed was Virgin by Lorde. It is a great album, all the songs have so much meaning to them.” Lucckese said.
The Grammys have always been a place to recognize many artists and their works. On Feb. 1, 2026, the winners will be announced.
“I don’t think 2025 was the best year for music. I think that it was decent, but it was definitely not as good as last year.” Lucckese said.
