24 Buddhist monks participating in the “Walk for Peace” have reached Doswell, Virginia, marking the 102nd day of the Walk for Peace. The walk originally began in Fort Worth, Texas Oct. 26th and crossed into Virginia on Jan. 28th, with the final destination being Washington, D.C. The purpose of this peace walk is to promote awareness for inner peace as well as compassion and religious tolerance. The monks hope the pilgrimage will open a dialogue about unity within the people who have witnessed the walk. From Doswell, they will be heading north through Henrico and Fredericksburg in the coming days following Rt. 95. The monks are also accompanied by Aloka the peace dog, a stray dog who joined the pilgrimage during a previous peacewalk in India. She has brought publicity to the pilgrimage as she appears in social media and is recuperating after a hip injury.
