Over the weekend, our Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter went to the FCCLA State Leadership and Recognition Conference held in Virginia Beach. The chapter both competed in the STAR Events competitions and learned the results of the annual State Executive Council elections.

Ashlyn Gray competed in early childhood education and won silver. In the Culinary Exhibition competition, Catherine Meyers won Silver with pastries. Lastly, the team of Hurley Lucckese and Abigayle Hall won silver in the event management competition. Along with the competition awards, chapter president Hurley Lucckese won the Go for the Red Award and was recognized as a Power of One completer.

At the conference, the State Executive Council elections results were announced and chapter president Lucckese was named Virginia’s FCCLA vice-president.

“Thank you to all of the teachers who have supported me during my campaign, especially Mrs. Lohr, who has helped me and our chapter immensely during this past year,” Lucckese wrote in an email. “I am so excited to embark on this leadership journey that will benefit me immensely in the future”
