The Lion Pride Run is an annual fundraising event organized through Louisa County High School to support student scholarships and school programs. The event is led by English teacher Kate Fletcher and involves a long-distance run designed to raise awareness and financial contributions for students in need 

“Each spring I complete a run to a different destination, covering anywhere from 40 to 100 miles without stopping,” Fletcher said. 

April 21, 2026, the run marked its tenth anniversary. As part of the event, Fletcher completed a 107-mile route from the high school to Jamestown.  The run also aligned with activities recognizing the United States’ 250th anniversary. The route included multiple stops where community members, students, and staff observed and supported the event. 

The Lion Pride Run was created to provide financial assistance to students who plan to continue their education after high school. Funds raised through donations are used to award scholarships and support school related activities. 

Participation in the event extends beyond the runner; students, school staff, and local residents contribute by volunteering, donating and attending organized stops along the route. Information on the run, including its purpose and donation opportunities, is shared through school and community platforms. 

“It feels good to be part of something bigger than ourselves,” leadership senior Eric Davis said. “We’re helping our community.” 

The event is coordinated in partnership with Louisa County Public Schools and relies on community involvement for planning and support. Safety measures, route planning, and scheduled breaks are organized in advance to ensure the run is completed as planned. 

“The Lion Pride Run is more than just a run- it’s a way for our community to come together and invest in our students’ futures,” Fletcher said. “Seeing the support along the way reminds me why we do this every year.”
