Holly Jackson’s book-turned-TV show

Holly Jackson’s book-turned-TV show

With the release of the TV show based on the best-selling novel, “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (AGGGTM)” on July 6th, 2024 fans are thrilled to see these characters on the screen.

In September 2022, Holly Jackson, author of “AGGGTM,” informed her fans via her Instagram that her bestselling novel would become a TV show.

On June 19th, 2023, Jackson released more information about the show, introducing the cast of her well-known characters Pippa-Fitz Amboi and Ravi Singh. Wednesday actor Emma Myers for the lead role of Pippa, and upcoming actor Zain Iqbal for Ravi.

“I am so unbelievably excited that Emma is our Pip,” Jackson said in a social media post. ”She is phenomenal and this role was truly meant to be hers. And we found our perfect Ravi in Zain.  I smile every time I see them together, Emma and Zain are the only two I would trust to bring these characters to life.”

In June of 2023, production of the show started and finished in August 2023. Jackson was on the set most of the time filming was happening. During her new book tour the writer attended, Jackson talked about how she added pieces of information to the script of the show that she wished were in the book.

“I feel that her being on the set is going to make it more like the book, a lot of books that are turned into movies don’t have the most important details,” freshman Melody Young said. “But the author being on the set is going to help really add more creative imprints.”

The first season will include six 45-minute episodes and will be about the details and timeline of the first book in the trilogy.  She stated that if the show has a high rise of success, they will pick it up for a second and third season, which will follow the timelines of the final two books.

“I feel that with the climax of the book and just Pip herself, six episodes isn’t enough time to display all that,” junior Julia Billings said. “She’s too big of a character with lots of important scenes that can’t be displayed in that amount of time.”

With the show being filmed in England, around the city of Bristol, it’s set to release on the streaming service, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Jackson has said that she has found a streaming service for the show to be played in America.

“Don’t worry you will be able to see it, ” Jackson said on tour. ”That is one of my secrets. I’m just not allowed to tell you where.“But there is a place, it is definitely happening.”
